Midtjylland forward Ebere Paul Onuachu, 21 years old,  scored the winner against Manchester United, in the first leg of their Europa league tie on Thursday night.

The Nigerian lad who has become a global celebrity for compounding the woes of Louis van Gaal’s team, said his team  expected a much stronger United side to arrive MCH Arena on Thursday.

Louis Van Gaal’s men suffered a 2-1 defeat against the little known  Danish, despite the Red Devils taking the lead.

And the Nigerian who was the Wolves hero said he was surprised at Manchester United’s dreary performance.

“I think I expected more from them but we gave them what they didn’t expect,” Onuachu toldBT Sport. “We gave our best and got the result.”

The Danish side face Manchester United in the return leg on February 25 with the Europa last-16 slot on the line and the Nigerian is hoping for a positive result.

“I’m looking forward to the return leg, hopefully we’re going to get something,” he continued.
“We’ve come out as the Danish champions, we beat Southampton and we’ll give it our best against United.
“Hopefully we will [win], we just have to be positive. It won’t be easy but we’ll give our best.”

Midtjylland also knocked Southampton out of the Europa League, beating Ronald Koeman’s team 2-1 on aggregate in a two-legged playoff.

Onuachu, 6feet, 7 inches tall,  is reputed to be another Kanu Nwankwo, in his playing style.

He moved to  FC Midtjylland in 2012, on a scholarship, from their affiliate team in Nigeria, Ebedei  and made his first-team debut in the Cup later that year, before making his league debut in December 2012. In June 2013 he signed a new three-year contract with the club, before extending it for a further three-years in August 2015.

In early 2015 he was loaned to Vejle BK, before returning to FC Midtjylland ahead of the 2015–16 season.
His only international duty for Nigeria was being called up in February 2015 to the Nigerian under-23 national team
